Swan House has a walled garden, quiet, enclosed, and surprisingly green for a house in the centre of town. There for you to enjoy and relax in at your leisure.

The flower farm

Beyond the walled garden is our growing patch: where we grow flowers through the seasons alongside vegetables and herbs: sweet peas in June, dahlias by August, with vegetables and herbs tucked in wherever there's room.

It started small and never got much bigger, which suits us. The flowers are the main event, marking the seasons change, a genuine part of our day, a quiet way of marking the seasons as they change. Some of the vegetables and herbs end up on your breakfast table, and there's always a jug of something from the garden in the house. Picking flowers before a guest arrives is still one of our favourite jobs.

What we don't use: surplus flowers and vegetables go to the Friday community market, with proceeds supporting the local food bank.
